Red Transferware challenge #7: July Rubies

Danielle Lord

Welcome back diners! Thanks for joining me as I continue to challenge myself with red transferware table settings. For July: rubies. Since the birthstone for July is rubies and I have these beautiful Spode bread and butter plates, I thought I would jazz up the normally less formal red transferware with some summer bling.

I really do not have a lot of red dinnerware, which is why I created the challenge, to see if I could actually use the red transferware in a year of table settings. Then, I was gifted --by friend and sponsor Nowvi - these sweet little salad and bread & butter plates, depicting a charming English countryside.

Look at these charming and very detailed scenes! Aside from the wonderful cabbage roses, you can see the church spire and even the fishing pool on the left! And they were the perfect color match for the Spode plates. Given the history of transferware, I normally do not like to use it in a formal setting, but this is a challenge!

I paired these with a contemporary white and gold dinner plate and as much bling as I could gather from the house.

A friend of my mom's shared this fun gold set of flatware.

The red goblets came from another friend of my mom's! Thank you both -

Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed the table. I'll try to be more timely with the August posts as I did not get around to any in July!

Please feel free to share with others who enjoy beautiful table settings and vintage items. And, don't forget to pop into the shop and check out our sponsors.

Until next time, enjoy something beautiful! ~d
