Well, yes we are firmly entrenched in summer, our hot July days are a definite testament to that! Nevertheless, it was time to get these two blue tables into a blog.
Welcome back diners! I hope you're enjoying the beautiful summer -
Every great table setting begins with a muse...in this case the colors of late spring: blues, purples, and greens. Pictures from the yard: lilacs and bugle-weed.
I used a lot of my Wedgewood collection in both tables, including both Jasperware and Queensware. This first table reflects the pale blue skies and sneak out of the clouds in the early spring, paired with the bright green of the new foliage. The blue and green ice tea glasses were also perfect, as was the vintage, hand-embroidered table topper. Like the table topper, the dinner plates are contemporary blue and chartreus band.
So bright and cheery! Perfect for breakfast on a drizzly spring morning.
The next table brings out the array of purples that are found when the late spring flowers begin to show: lilacs, bugle-weed, violets... I changed the glasses to Avon/Fostoria George and Martha Washington and mixed in the Wedgewood Queensware. I added these bright Italian salad plates with beuatiful colors and some vintage violet stems.
Slightly more subdued and looks ideal for some alfresco dining...when the temperature cooperates!
Same table, same table-topper, same dinner plates, but what a difference! Hope you enjoyed the two different blue settings.
